Cousin's Camping Weekend

We had a fun weekend in Welsh at the Hidden Valley Campground for a gathering of Arndt family cousins (thanks to my cousin Katie for arranging it!). It seems like the female cousins rule - we had seven of us (Heidi, Me, Katie, Rachel, Jennifer, Julie and Pam) and our significant others. CeCe had the spotlight to herself as the youngest and enjoyed "helping" everyone put up their tents. We goofed off with a few games and just caught up with each other. We are looking forward to getting together with the group again in September for cousin Wendy's wedding.

Celebrating Grandpa's Birthday

We celebrated Grandpa Bob's birthday a little early. Uncle Jim was in town and was able to join us too. A beautiful afternoon for some family time.

Uncle Pudge

We got some sad news on our way back into town. My uncle Pudge (Harry Herder) passed away on the 8th. He was quite a man - a teacher, a veteran, a giant in person and personality. Someone who made an impact on many. He was one of a kind and will be missed.

House on the Rock

We stopped at the House on the Rock in Wisconsin on our way home from camping. One of the weirdest places ever. We would not recommend this bizarre trip through someone's dark basement. Here are a couple pics. We were running for the exits by the end.

Camping at Devil's Lake

We had some of our best camping yet at this most popular of the Wisconsin State Parks. The geography and hiking was beautiful and the swimming beach in great shape. We could not have had better weather too. The one day that we had some rain was spent at the Circus Museum in Baraboo. CeCe loved Roger the Clown and the various shows. She is still talking about the tiger show and clowns. We highly recommend it to anyone. It has some great shows and some great history too.

Home for the 4th of July

We took a break from camping to enjoy a Cannon Falls fourth of July. We caught the smash up derby on the 3rd with our old neighbors from Winslow Derek and Susie - here are some pics from the night. CeCe loved the ear plugs, the animals, and the junk food. Saturday was the parade. CeCe is really catching on to how much candy can come your way. Later that night fireworks watching from the pontoon on the lake. Cece made it until 10 before passing out, but really enjoyed the show put on by various neighbors on the lake.

Namakogen Federal Campground

The weather was not too great and the campground didn't have much to offer, but we enjoyed camping at this park. Here are some cute pics of CeCe goofing off - her sense of imagination is really taking off. She makes a great puppy and even better kitty or bunny. Even though the weather was in the 60's and the water not much warmer, she was more than ready to hop into the water.
