Happy 40th Anniversary Grandma & Grandpa Herder!

Grandma and Grandpa Herder celebrated their 40th anniversary on the 24th. It is amazing to look back at all that has been created and influenced by that joining on a January day back in 1969. The horrible blizzard that dumped multiple feet of snow could not prevent the nuptuals (however, it prevented most of those invited from attending).
Elizabeth and Scott hosted the evening and Jeannie, Brian and Ava made it too. It was a great opportunity to get CeCe into a Christmas dress that she could not wear due to the cast. Here are a couple cute pics from the night!

It Must be January

Time is really flying - when I look back at my first posting last January I see that CeCe had her first shiner. Well, we are welcoming in this new year with another! I picked CeCe up from daycare on Tuesday where apparently she pulled a toy telephone off a shelf onto her face. This kid is really starting to look bedraggled! As for the arm - she is starting to use it more and more. She still tucks in the little finger in a funny way and is sensitive to touch in the hand. The incision at the fold of the arm looks like it is healing funny too (it's hard to say if it is just me being worried, or if there is something more to it). Anyway, we have an appointment on the second with Dr. Walker to take a look at how the healing process is going. CeCe can be so cute and serious describing what happened, but of course when Mom brings out the camera, she is not interested in talking about it. Here is my attempt at getting her to tell the story. By the way, I would much prefer a bad word here and there to the too frequent "Why??" that has found it's way into the vocabulary. There is no answer that will prevent the next "Why??" from popping out!

The Cast Comes Off Tomorrow!

CeCe and her dad head back in to Gilette tomorrow to have more X-rays and have the pins and cast removed. I just wanted to post a pic of the naked cowgirl (thanks Great Uncle Bob and Auntie Wendy for the great cowboy hat!) and her pink cast since it will be gone soon. She is really hanging in there and it is not slowing her down a bit. We are hoping they will send us home with some type of protective splint to keep her safe with all of the running and jumping she does every day.

ABCD

I just had to post this - I hope you can make out the efforts at the ABC's I found CeCe working on the other day. She has a little machine that she got from her Auntie Lisa that sings the alphabet. It is suprising how many of the letters CeCe already knows in the song. She can also sing a mean "Twinkle Twinkle" too - as well as the Cecelia song posted in an earlier blog.

Happy New Year!!

Cecelia is up and running already in the new year(see the video below). She has a beautiful new pink cast on that is sturdy enough for her to be a lot more independent. She is also sleeping in her new big-girl bed, but has not figured out that she can crawl out on her own yet (thank goodness!). The cast comes off on the 12th and we hope to return to a "normal" life then with a healthy girl.
